CORE (Community Organizations Reaching Everyone) is a community asset driven program for diverse youth ages 15 to 25+ from across the city of Hamilton, Ontario. Situated at McMaster University Innovation Park, CORE aims to provide youth with opportunities to re-think and re-design their approaches to life, learning, and success while earning high school credits in our unique, welcoming and flexible environment.
Participants at CORE include young people who want a co-operative education experience in a corporate environment or they just may want a change of setting or a break from their day to day lives. Most are looking for a sense of community and a sense of belonging. These youth could include high school students looking for a temporary change, re-engaged youth, street youth, young adults trying to start over, those who have lost interest and those needing life skills and career coaching.
At CORE youth learn to design their own projects and are mentored by McMaster University Student Interns, Mohawk College Child and Youth Workers and a Volunteer Support Team. The program corresponds well with McMaster University President Patrick Deane’s Forward with Integrity initiative.
